Film Fixer vs Production Company in Bangladesh
Not every shoot needs a full production company retainer. Not every shoot is safe with a logistics-only contact. Choosing the right model in Bangladesh starts with the creative risk and the decision rights you need on the ground.
When a fixer is enough
Experienced directors arriving with their own key creative team often need locations, crew augmentation and local navigation more than a second creative hierarchy. If the director, DP and producer are already flying in and the creative decisions are made, adding a full local production company on top just introduces a second chain of approval nobody asked for. A senior fixer here is the right scope: access, permits, crew and problem-solving, reporting into a creative team that already exists.
When a production company fits better
If you need concept development, casting leadership, full crew packaging and post coordination under one local banner, a production company model is cleaner. This is the right call when the visiting team is small, or when the brief itself is being developed locally rather than arriving fully formed. One local entity holding the whole production reduces the number of parties a client has to manage, at the cost of that entity now owning more creative decisions.
Hybrid models
Many international jobs combine a senior fixer or director lead with selective department heads: a local production designer, a local casting director, but not a full production company wrapped around the whole job. Write the RACI (who is Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed for each decision) so nobody assumes the other owns permits or safety. In practice this most often breaks down over two things specifically: who owns the permit file if something goes wrong, and who has final authority to stop the day if a location or a safety issue appears. Name both explicitly before the shoot, not during it.
Questions to ask before you book
Ask for recent comparable shoots — not a generic reel, but work of a similar scale and risk profile to the one being planned. Ask about language coverage on set, specifically: is coordination in English standard, or does it depend on which crew members are assigned. Ask about insurance expectations directly, since local and international policies don't always cover the same things in Bangladesh, and this is worth confirming before a contract is signed, not after an incident. And ask exactly how a change on the day gets escalated: to one named person, or to whoever happens to be reachable.

Frequently asked questions
Can Libanza Films work either way?
Yes. Scope can emphasise fixer support, direction, or fuller production — agreed in the brief.
Who should own the permit file in a hybrid model?
Name this explicitly before the shoot. It is one of the two things that most often falls through the gap between a fixer and a department head who assume the other has it covered.
